Last month I mentioned the project by
Laura Spradlin to collect
bias-knit squares to be made into afghans for the victims of the tornado that destroyed Greensburg, Kansas, earlier this year.
Back then there wasn't a specific deadline for finishing the project, but she's now planning to start washing, blocking and packing the squares for seaming on August 15. So there's still plenty of time to help if you're so inclined, just get your squares in the mail by August 10 if you live inside the United States.
According to the
most recent count, Laura had received 1,545 squares, as well as 203 washcloths, 12 winter hats, 4 pairs of socks, 3 lap afghans, 3 scarves, 3 baby bibs and a pair of mittens. The new goal is to have 2,240 squares, enough to make 40 afghans.
Seaming will take place on September 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at El Dorado First Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kansas.
